Arc de Triomphe-Paris-France Aerial View Wallpaper centers on an incredible monument erected to commemorate the brave soldiers who fought for France, chiefly during the Napoleonic era. It is located in the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle at the western end of the Champs-Elysees. Its construction was commissioned in 1806, and took 30 years to complete. An eternal flame, placed there on November 11, 1920, burns in memory of the unknown soldiers who died in both world wars. This aerial view of the Arc shows a night time picture of the 164 foot landmark towering over Paris. But aviator Charles Godefroy was able to fly his Nieuport fighter plane through the Arc at the 1919 Paris Victory Parade to mark the end of World War I. What a view that must have been!
